(CMR) The NICE workers have apparently had an altercation that has left one person headed to the hospital in an ambulance and another one being treated on the scene after being stabbed a stabbing incident at the landfill.
The incident happened shortly after 1:00 p.m. this afternoon but the injuries are not life-threatening.
The NICE program has been coming under a lot of scrutiny since it begin in early August.
The Government of the Cayman Islands announced its decision to undertake a first-ever National Community Enhancement (NiCE) Summer Project 2018.
The initiative, which runs from August 20 to August 31, is being led by the Ministry of Commerce, Planning and Infrastructure in partnership with the Ministry of Health, Environmental, Culture and Housing, and will provide opportunities for the unemployed to work for up to two weeks to enhance the physical environment for the benefit of the community.
The NiCE Summer Project will cover repairs and maintenance, gardening, as well as cleaning parks, beaches, beach access, garbage collection and roadside verges. A similar project will also be undertaken in the Sister Islands under the supervision of District Administration.

4:30 pm Police UPDATE:
Just after 1PM today police and other emergency services were dispatched by the 9-1-1 Communication Centre to a report of an assault that took place at the Department of Environmental Health compound located on Seymour Drive, George Town.
It appears that two (2) men had an altercation, which resulted in one man being stabbed. The injured party was taken to the Cayman Islands Hospital where he is currently being treated for what appears to be serious but non-life-threatening-injuries.
The suspect in the matter, a 19-year-old-man from West Bay has been arrested and is being held in the Cayman Islands Detention Centre.
The matter is currently under police investigation.
