CONFIRMED: The government has issued the following statement around 10:30 a.m.
The Chief Medical Officer, Dr. John Lee, has confirmed that a traveler who tested positive for Covid-19 upon arrival, has now been admitted to the Critical Care Unit (CCU) at the Health Services Authority from quarantine. The patient is in a stable condition and breathing on their own.
“The patient is still able to do everything on their own. I know we all wish to express our concern and best wishes to the patient, and their family, for the patient’s speedy recovery,” added Dr. Lee.
(CMR) An American male visitor is rumored to have been admitted to the intensive care unit at one of the local hospitals after testing positive for COVID-19.
This rumor states that after meeting his fiancé online he was permitted by Travel Time to enter the Grand Cayman about 10 days ago. Since then he has tested positive and is in the ICU at a local hospital. The source is confident that he's admitted at either the HSA or Health City; but not at Doctor's Hospital.
CMR is doing our best to now investigate the details of this rumor and will update when more information becomes available.
