(CMR) A white male was escorted off of a JetBlue flight that was destined for New York by Jamaican police on Tuesday (October 20).
According to a local media source, tensions escalated on the plane after the man allegedly referred to a black woman, who he believed was sitting in his seat, using the N-word.
The argument escalated, minutes before take-off, between the two passengers.
The Den publication reported that when the male passenger arrived aboard the cabin, the overhead compartments were full, and a flight attendant told him to refrain from opening the bins and proceed towards his seat.
Following the conversation between the flight attendant and the man, the man is alleged to have become enraged and began cursing.
When the white-male arrived at what he believed to have been his seat, he and a female passenger became embroiled in a squabble.
“This N-word is in my seat, all of you guys on this plane are n-words, you’re a n-word, you’re an n-word. And I can say the n-word anytime I want to, ” said the man, according to the local publication..
The man's statements, caught the ire of the passengers onboard, predominately Jamaicans.
Several passengers were seen in a video rushing to the man's section of the cabin where they attempted to hurl fists at the man, who was protected by flight attendants attempting to defuse the situation.
The man was subsequently removed from the flight by the Jamaican police, who escorted him back into the airport, he is expected to leave the island on a second flight on Thursday.
