Ms. O’Neil started out in the Public Transport Unit as a Bus Depot Officer, spending three years in that position. During that time and in the event the position ever became available, she underwent training to step into the role of Public Transport Inspector.
“The Ministry of Tourism and Transport is pleased to encourage personal growth within all of our departments and SAGC’s. Ms. O’Neil displayed her passion to learn and in doing so was given the opportunity to rise to the occasion. It is satisfying to see the dedication of our staff being rewarded,” said Stran Bodden, Chief Officer of the Ministry of Tourism and Transport.
“The PTU is keen on succession planning and staff development. We are delighted with Ms. O’Neil’s growth and would like to congratulate her on her well-earned promotion,” said Durk Banks, Director of the Public Transport Unit.
Ms. O’Neil expressed her appreciation to be a part of a department that strongly believes in succession planning.
“The Public Transport Unit believes in earning your position, as well as delivering results which is why they always opt for open competition. So, when the position became available, I knew it was time for me to show that my training had paid off. I’m excited to officially step into this new role alongside my experienced and knowledgeable colleagues,” she said.
Ms. O’Neil holds a Level 3 certificate from the Institute of Leadership and Management (ILM) and is currently pursuing an Associate Degree in Business Administration at the University College of the Cayman Islands (UCCI).
