(CMR) A woman wanted for murder in Jamaica was deported from the Cayman Islands on Thursday, 5 January, after she was caught here on New Year's Day.
According to the Jamaica media, Ashley Williams (20) of Denham Town in Kingston was charged with murder after she was transported back to the country.
Williams was being sought for the murder of 47-year-old David Rowe, a bearer of Septimus Street, Jones Town.
CMR has learned that Williams came to the Cayman Islands on a work permit after getting a clean police record. She was reportedly able to get the police record because the police did not know her true identity immediately after the crime was committed. When her identity was ascertained, the Cayman authorities were informed.
Police reports are that on November 30, last year, Mr. Rowe was at his house on Septimus Street when he was accosted by Williams and her boyfriend, Jovanie Thompson (22). During a dispute, it is alleged that Williams pulled a knife and stabbed Mr. Rowe several times.
Thompson then pulled an illegal gun and opened fire on the injured man. He was later pronounced dead at hospital.
Thompson was captured last month during a police operation in Manchester and has also been charged with murder.
