(CMR) Reports are coming in that a Sprint delivery driver has been robbed by two armed men dressed in construction gear including hard hats right before 1:00 pm today.
We understand that the driver was picking up a deposit from Britcay when this occurred. The tow men wore sunglasses, construction hard hats and reflective vests.
Our sources indicate that security guard was in the foyer talking to someone and did not notice that a robbery was taking place.
We We understand that the two men left the premises on foot walking off in the direction of Eastern Avenue. – apparently in no particular hurry. We understand this is the second time this has occurred.
Once the police have provided more information we will update this story.
RCIPS RELEASE: 6pm
In release moments ago, the Royal Cayman Island Police Service (RCIPS) confirmed that at around 12:30PM on Friday officers responded to a report of an armed robbery of a courier near BritCay on Eastern Avenue.
Reports are that during the ordeal the courier had been held at gunpoint and his bag taken.
The courier had initially struggled with an armed man who had approached him and brandished a firearm, but ceased struggling when a second man approached.
Both men were dressed in construction gear – wearing hard hats and reflective vests – and made off with the bag across Eastern Avenue and down Bodden Road.
No shots were fired and no one was injured.
Under $3000 was taken.
