(CMR) Bruce Barnes (48) and Nick Smith (57) both of George Town have both been arrested earlier today by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) after a four month investigation into overtime irregularities at the Health Services Authority's security team.
The announcement was made earlier today that the duo were arrested this morning on suspicion of bribery of a public officer, fraud on the government, breach of trust an false claims by public officers.
Whilst the ACC did not name the pair the CMR detectives quickly identified them.
The men are currently being detained at the Fairbanks Detention Centre for questioning. Readers may recall that in February the HSA abruptly placed all security staff on immediate required leave when questions were being asked about irregularities in that department and employed an outside company to handle their security for them.
We understand both were security supervisors at the HSA.
These two represent the first to be arrested in this probe and several others that are ongoing in various authorities including the National Roads Authority and Cayman Islands Port Authority.
