(CMR) The Cayman Islands Fire Service has a new acting chief fire officer and several new deputies.
According to well-placed Cayman Marl Road sources, there was a staff meeting late this afternoon where some major staff announcements were made. The 3:45 pm meeting saw three new deputies named: Ricardo Charlton Jr., Tina Choy and Brevon Elliott.
In addition, it was announced that Brevon Elliott would be acting Chief Fire Officer until further notice of a permanent replacement. The other deputies will operate in the position on a rotating basis.
Elliott replaces Divisional Officer Witney Tatum of Cayman Brac; who was joint appointed Acting Chief early last month.
Sources indicate that Tatum will return to Cayman Brac. Former Chief David Hails left after his contract expired. CMR previously reported that the recruitment process was started a mere few weeks before his contract expired. The Ministry of Home Affairs is recruiting someone for the position on a two-year temporary contract.
