(CMR) A routine police stop has resulted in the arrest of a man and woman in the vicinity of West Bay Public Beach for drug-related offenses.
Shortly after 11:00 pm on Wednesday, 9 December, officers on patrol in West Bay came upon a vehicle parked close to the public beach. When officers approached the vehicle and spoke to the occupants, they detected the strong scent of ganja.
This resulted in a search of the vehicle under the Misuse of Drugs Law.
During the search, officers recovered packets of suspected ganja, several packets of suspected cocaine, drug paraphernalia, and two knives. A man, age 25 of West Bay, and a woman, age 42 of George Town, were both arrested on suspicion of possession and consumption of ganja, and possession of cocaine with intent to supply. The woman was also arrested on suspicion of possession of an offensive weapon.
Both were subsequently granted bail as investigations continue.
