(CMR) The Cayman Food Bank is introducing an alphabetical system to manage the increase in the number of persons relying on the food pantries to acquire groceries and still remain compliant with the social distancing requirements.
The Cayman Food Bank, in conjunction with First Assembly of God church, distributes groceries to the needy in our community. The following distribution system takes effect immediately:
- Last Names A-K: Collection on Wednesdays from 9:00 am – 12:00 pm OR until supplies finish
- Last Names L-Z: Collection on Saturdays from 9:00 am – 12:00 pm OR until supplies finish
All persons are now required to have some form of identification on them such as a driver's license or passport that will be checked at pantry facilities. People are also encouraged to respect social distancing and wear face masks.
The First Assembly of God church is located at 195 Old Crewe Road, across the roundabout from King's Gym.
With the assistance of community volunteers, the food bank is able to deliver upwards of 150 hot meals daily to at-risk members of the community including the elderly and children. Community members benefit from such non-profits and volunteers and donations are always welcomed.
A drive to raise funds for the Cayman Islands Food Banks via the making of cloths masks which can be purchased for $10 is underway and persons interested in ordering or making donations should contact 926-6111.
