(CMR) The single curfew related arrest made last night shortly after 8:00 pm when a 26-year-old George Town man was found to have a knife, pepper spray and two spent casings (from live ammunition rounds) on him.
Police released the details earlier today and confirmed that he was observed by officers on patrol walking along Saturn Close. Originally stopped for being on the road during the recently mandated curfew he began acting aggressively when the officer spoke to him. He was arrested on suspicion of being in possession of an offensive weapon, being in possession of a restricted weapon and being in possession of an unlicensed firearm (ammunition). He will appear in court in due course.
Several other persons were warned for prosecution for being out during the curfew. Anyone found to be in contravention of the curfew can be arrested and or fined.
The curfew was imposed yesterday to start at 7:00 pm and last until 5:00 am. Currently, the country is under a three-day curfew for all non-essential persons to be at home until Saturday morning at 5:00 am.
