Cayman Marl Road became aware of an arson incident that occurred around 3:30 a.m. this morning on Palm Dale Avenue located in George Town Central off Crewe Road.
One of our local Facebook viewers shared the harrowing experience on her Facebook page and lamented at what is happening in Cayman.
Police and fire units were alerted to the early morning incident and extinguished the flames. Two vehicles where damaged although it appears that the target may have been more one than the other. The red 2006 Honda Stream and a green 2002 Daihatsu Terios, were extensively damaged.

The incident impacted two separate occupants in a small apartment complex and it's our sources indicated the target may have been the owners of the red vehicle. CMR sources indicated that they have only moved into the complex in the past few weeks. The other occupants have been at that location for four years and have never experienced anything like this before.
After damaging the vehicles the perpetrators then threw a bottle of flammable liquid through a bedroom window of the house – a room shared by the poster and her mother. The window glass can be seen in the photos but the parties were uninjured as it did not ignite. However, due to the impact of the projectile, the bottle exploded upon impact splashing all over the floor, bed, and walls. “You can imagine waking up to this sort of situation? My mother slipped and fell and then rushed out to extinguish the fire. Now I feel like I have to sleep with my eyes open as I don't feel safe.”
The tenant was most concerned about getting everyone outside to safety. As a result of this incident, she had to discard her bed and they have now lost a vehicle.
The police are considering this an act of arson and the matter is under full investigation by both the police and fire department.
Anyone who may have seen any suspicious activity early in the morning in the area should contact police at George Town Police Station at 949-4222.
