(CMR) A Lebanese man who lost his left leg in a terrible accident in the Cayman Islands last year is seeking help through GoFundMe to get a prosthetic leg.
Najib Chehwan was the driver of a Honda Fit, which collided with a truck on Shamrock Road on 11 November 2023. The impact was so severe that he had to be cut from the vehicle using the jaws of life.
Chehwan, the sole provider of his family, got an above-the-knee amputation after his leg was damaged in the crash.
According to the GoFundME account created for Chehwan, “Over three arduous months, Najib fought through surgeries and medical complications with unwavering courage.”
“Najib is not just a survivor; he's a dedicated provider for his family. Working abroad in the Cayman Islands, he sacrifices time away from his loved ones to ensure their well-being. Now, faced with the challenge of adapting to life with a disability, Najib needs our support more than ever,” it further stated.
As Chehwan tries to reclaim his mobility and independence, the immediate goal is to raise $78,000 for the prosthetic leg, which is essential for Najib's rehabilitation and ability to continue providing for his family.
“Your contribution can make a profound difference in Najib's life, providing him with the resources he needs to navigate this difficult chapter. Together, let's rally behind Najib and show him that he's not alone in this journey. Join us in rewriting Najib's story—one of resilience, determination, and the unwavering support of his community. Your kindness and generosity will help him take the first steps towards a brighter future,” the FoFundMe account stated.
