(CMR) Several tourists were reportedly rescued by the Cayman Islands Coast Guard on Wednesday, 28 February, after the boat they were on took and water and started sinking.
The Coast Guard said the team on duty responded and were on scene in a matter of minutes were they were able to rescue persons from the water.
While the CICG has been lauded for this rescue, there are concerns that the overturned vessel was left unmarked, not marked by a light, flag or any kind of signaling device.
One person told CMR, the boat was a hazard to navigation, and a boater almost ran into it Thursday morning.
“No one was contacted in regards to notifying the boating public about the navigation hazard,” CMR was told.
