(CMR) A 28-year-old West Bay man currently residing in Cayman Brac was arrested on Thursday, 8 February, after he reportedly attacked the retired District Commissioner Ernie Scott with a machete.
Reports are that shortly before 12:15 p.m., police responded to a report of an assault with a bladed weapon taking place in the parking lot of a restaurant on South Side Road West, Cayman Brac.
On arriving at the scene, police observed Scott on the ground near a vehicle with injuries. A second man, armed with a machete, was acting aggressively towards Scott.
Police arrested the 28-year-old man for Assault ABH, Possession of an Offensive Weapon, and Damage to Property and recovered the machete.
The injured man was transported to Faith Hospital for treatment of his injuries and was later released.
CMR understands the incident was a result of road rage, with the man following Scott to the location where he attacked him. CMR has received a copy of threatening voice messages that the man sent to the daughter of another man who he thought was the driver of the vehicle. However, he later learned it was someone else.
