(CMR) A 71-year-old man who was visiting the Cayman Islands died on Friday, 22 December, after experiencing difficulties while snorkeling in the North Sound.
Reports from the RCPS are that shortly before 2:10 p.m. on Friday, officers responded to a report of a water-related death. It was reported that a man had been out snorkeling from a vessel in the North Sound when he experienced difficulties and became unresponsive.
The man was brought back to the vessel where persons aboard conducted CPR as he was transported back to shore in the vicinity of Safehaven. Emergency services met the vessel on shore and the man was taken to the Cayman Islands Hospital via ambulance, where he was subsequently pronounced dead.
There have been several water-related deaths this year; just last month,, a Canadian visitor died in a water-related incident.
