(CMR) A 52-year-old man from Canada was pronounced dead after becoming unresponsive while swimming in the vicinity of Rum Point on Friday, 10 November.
Reports from the RCIPS are that shortly after 3 p.m., the 9-1-1 Communications Centre dispatched emergency services to a report of a person in distress on a vessel in the vicinity of Rum Point, North Side.
It was reported that a man had been swimming near the vessel when he was observed unresponsive in the water. He was taken to the vessel by other persons in the vicinity, and CPR was administered.
The vessel arrived at the nearest dock, and the man was then transported to the Cayman Islands Hospital, where he was pronounced deceased.
Cayman has recorded several water-related deaths this year, having one of the highest drowning statistics in the region.
