(CMR) Caymanian Judith Bennett will be taking on the pivotal role of Director of Sustainable Finance at the Caribbean Utilities Company (CUC) starting January 2, 2024, making her the third female to be appointed director in the company.
Bennett's journey with CUC began in 2015 when she took on the role of Manager of the Financial Services Department. In 2021, she was appointed to the Manager position of the newly created Regulatory and Sustainability Department.
A Certified Public Accountant (CPA) with 13 years of Financial Services experience and 7 years within the Utilities Sector, she brings a wealth of unique knowledge to the position.
“We are confident that with her at the helm of Sustainable Finance, CUC will continue to thrive and make meaningful strides towards a sustainable future,” CUC stated in a post on social media.
According to LinkedIn, when Caribbean Utilities needed to implement ESG strategies and develop a sustainability report, as Manager, Bennett transformed the ESG function. She met with ESG consultants and drafted the strategy, targets and metrics while providing the required information to drive ESG strategy execution. Bennett succeeded in creating and deploying the new ESG strategy and reporting framework that bolstered future sustainability reporting.
Also, when Caribbean Utilities needed to issue Rights Offering, raise capital, and complete multiple projects, as Manager, Bennett campaigned for funding and approvals. She succeeded in raising $47m capital available to finance future capital expenditure projects.
“I am passionate about driving improvements, developing team capability and financial acumen to ensure financial thinking and accountability is at the heart of all decision making,” Bennett noted in her LinkedIn profile.
