(CMR) KPMG has announced that effective October 1, 2024, Caymanian Wanda Mellaneo will succeed Andrew Stepaniuk as Managing Partner at KPMG in the Cayman Islands, making her the firm's first female Managing Partner.
Starting April 1, Mellaneo and Stepaniuk are working together as Co-Managing Partners until Stepaniuk retires on September 30, 2024.
According to KPMG, Mellaneo brings a wealth of experience to the role, having worked for KPMG for over 25 years after joining the firm in 1998 as a staff accountant and being promoted to the partnership in 2011.
She will be the sixth Managing Partner at KPMG LLP since the firm’s inception in the Cayman Islands in 1966.
“I’m honored to have been selected by my fellow Partners as the new Managing Partner of KPMG LLP. I am looking forward to leading our firm as we take the next step in our journey,” Mellaneo said.
“I am excited to innovate and grow our firm to align with global trends and to continue to deliver the world-class service our clients are accustomed to,” she continued.
Mellaneo noted that “Under Andy’s tenure, there has been incredible growth – there are over 400 people now working for KPMG.”
“His excellent leadership and dedication to our firm have provided a solid foundation for us to continue to grow and deliver for our clients, our people, and our community,” she stated.
Stepaniuk retires after 29 years at KPMG LLP, the last 5 of which were as a Managing Partner.
He describes Wanda as the clear choice to take over his position, indicating that “Wanda’s proven leadership skills, strong focus on values, and her deep knowledge of the business positions her as an excellent leader for our firm.”
“Wanda is an outstanding role model to young Caymanians in our industry and beyond. I am excited for what the future holds for our firm,” Stepaniuk said.
