(CMR) The Department of Environmental Health (DEH) has announced a three-day special clean-up exercise to remove bulk waste in Cayman Brac and Little Cayman on December 6, 9, and 13, 2023.
Sister Islands residents are advised that any bulk waste that is put out after the announced dates will not be collected. They are also reminded that the annual Bulk Waste Collection will take place in May, ahead of the Hurricane Season; however, the special clean-up announced is an exercise to facilitate the transition to this new schedule.
Residents are urged to prepare and separate their items ahead of the days assigned for collection in their respective areas. Household appliances, furniture, and other items too large to be handled by the weekly DEH collection crews should be placed by the roadside where it is easily accessible to DEH collection crews.
Metals and vegetation should also be separated from other bulk items. However, construction and demolition debris, hazardous material, electronics and tires will not be collected during the bulk waste removal activity. Persons are required to make alternative arrangements to transport these items to the landfill.
For additional information, residents on Grand Cayman may call the DEH at 949-6696, while those in the Sister Islands may contact DEH Cayman Brac office on 948-2321. Individuals may also send an email to [email protected], visit the DEH’s website at www.gov.ky/deh/, or message their Facebook page at https://bit.ly/3LEK55q
