(CMR) The RCIPS responded to an incident at the University College of the Cayman Islands earlier on Monday morning after several non-students had an altercation at the George Town campus. Sources told CMR the incident resulted in a woman being assaulted in her head and becoming “unresponsive.”
However, the police, in response to a media query, said their reports are that the woman, who witnessed the altercation, fainted. But CMR sources indicated that the woman is the mother of the two boys and would likely not want to press charges against her son.
The fight comes less than one week after some high school boys were arrested for an on-campus assault at John Gray High School.
Exclusive sources revealed that the two potential students were attempting to enroll when the fight took place between the young men. Responding promptly to the matter, the security guards at UCCI intervened and involved the police. Sources revealed several police officers attended the scene and brought the situation under control.
One of the boys involved in the fight was arrested on suspicion of affray and has been granted bail pending further investigations.
UCCI has on-campus security guards who carry out regular patrols on the campus 24/7 to ensure the safety of students, faculty, and visitors. They shared that UCCI takes the safety of everyone on its campus as paramount and is committed to providing a safe and secure learning environment. We invest heavily in security measures and have a zero-tolerance rule on anti-social behavior of any kind.
