(CMR) A Jamaican man was reportedly beaten to death by his 73-year-old wife last Saturday, 2 September, after she became enraged he had left her out of his will.
According to the Jamaica Gleaner, the St Elizabeth police have charged Enid Townsend, a housewife from Cabbage Valley district in the parish with the murder of her husband.
She reportedly confessed to using a hammer to strike her husband, 74-year-old farmer Arthur Townsend, multiple times. There are also reports he was stabbed.
The Jamaica Constabulary Force has been dealing with several domestic related killings recently and has been urging families to seek intervention to prevent tragedy.
This murder is the second tragic domestic dispute between couples in the parish within just two days.
Last Thursday, cosmetologist Alecia Griffiths (38) was found with gunshot wounds at her home in Goshen, St Elizabeth. Her husband, a licensed firearm holder, has since been arrested.
Last month, a 84-year-old man confessed to killing his 73-year-old wife and another senior citizen in Hanover on August 12.
Reports are that about 5 p.m. on August 12, 80-year-old retiree Patsy Allen was found in her Kendal district home by a relative. The family member alerted the Lucea police and Allen was rushed to hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
Two hours later, Allen's caregiver, 73-year-old Teka Anderson-Nesbeth, was found dead at her home in Grange district by a relative.
Anderson-Nesbeth's husband, who was missing for some time after the murders reportedly turned himself in to the police and confessed to the killings.
On Sunday, a 25-year-old woman who is believed to be mentally ill stabbed her 61 year-old mother to death during a dispute in their home.
