(CMR) The owners of a 2013 Mazda CX5 are seeking assistance in locating their stolen vehicle, which was taken early Saturday morning around 2:30 am.
The incident occurred in Bodden Town between Northward and Beach Bay. The car's key was lost approximately 2-3 weeks ago, and the owners were in the process of programming new keys. However, they were unable to delete the current registered keys as they were waiting for the replacements.
The stolen vehicle had keyless fob entry, and the owners suspect that the thief may have found the fob and knew the car's location. There was no struggle during the theft. The owners believe it's possible that the construction workers who were renovating an apartment next to theirs in the same yard may be involved, as the gate was accidentally left open for them after they finished working.
According to the landlord, the thief walked in and used the key fob to unlock the car, then started it immediately, as shown in the video below.
CCTV footage captures a male individual exiting a dark-colored vehicle, resembling a Honda HRV, in the vicinity shortly before the theft occurred. The man is seen opening the car and leaving the scene. The stolen car's license plate number is 177614.
If anyone comes across the 2013 Mazda CX5 with license plate 177614 to have details about this individual, please notify the RCIPS immediately.
