(CMR) A man who lived and worked in the Cayman Islands for several years was gunned down at his home in La Ceiba, Honduras, on Wednesday, 15 March.
Reports are that Rodimiro Eude Lopez, who worked as a boat captain in Honduras, was chased by individuals on a motorcycle who killed him when he entered his home.
Lopez reportedly worked at Cox Lumber in the Cayman Islands for a number of years before returning to Honduras. As the brother of a community pastor, Lopez was well-known in La Ceiba. Many people took to social media to express regret at his tragic passing.
“We regret to inform you of the death of Captain Rodimiro Eude Lopez, where a few hours ago he was brutally murdered in the city of Ceiba,” Muskitia Aslika posted on Facebook.
“Cap Rodi, during his career, has left a great legacy of professionalism, honesty, leadership, work, consistency, and struggle… So we mourn this irreparable loss,” the post continued.
“What sad news, a great person he was. There is so much insecurity in our country… My condolences to the family at this time,” another person stated.
