(CMR) The Cayman Islands Fire Service responded to an alarm at the Cayman Islands Hospital after the alarm was triggered by smoke in a mechanical room located in the Dialysis Unit on Wednesday, 1 February.
Patients in Dialysis, Urgent Care, Pharmacy, and MRI were escorted from the affected areas until the ‘all clear’ was given. The Dialysis Unit underwent air quality testing, and services resumed on Wednesday. Dialysis patients were contacted to reschedule their treatment for later in the day.
The Health Services Authority (HSA) said it would like to thank patients, visitors, and vendors for their cooperation during this time and apologizes for any inconvenience.
