(CMR) A reminder has been sent to the families of students that attend John Gray High School that are connected to the George Town Primary School COVID-19 outbreak that those families must remain at home in isolation for the entire time the school is closed.
The Ministry of Education (MoE) also issued a statement that effective Monday, 20 September 2021, all students and staff in Government schools are expected to wear masks while riding the bus, moving through the school compound, while indoors, and while in a group setting. When playing outdoors, eating, or working independently at their desk, masks may be removed. This guidance is in effect until further notice.
“Following a joint Health and Education Ministries decision, George Town Primary School (GTPS) will remain closed until 14 days after the date of the outbreak and all those related to the incidences should remain at home in isolation for the two weeks.”
Dr. John Lee
All students with a direct connection to the GTPS outbreak (siblings etc.) must continue to follow Public Health guidance and isolate with their families for the time outlined above.
School Principal Clark noted that:
Your health and well-being are the immediate priorities, and we send our prayers and best wishes to all those affected. Please contact your child’s tutor if this applies to you so we can ensure registers are coded correctly and work is set in TEAMS. In some cases, it may be possible for students to join lessons remotely if the member of staff and the subject matter means a hybrid lesson is possible.
If you have any questions about your child learning remotely during this quarantine period, please contact your child’s tutor in the first instance or their Student Progress Leader (SPL). The SPLs cover one year group each and now work across all academies:
Year 7Ms. [email protected]
Year 8 Mr. [email protected]
Year 9 Mr. [email protected]
Year 10Mr. [email protected]
Year 11Ms. [email protected]
Our students set a great example by wearing masks and sanitizing in and around school last week, and this will continue until further notice. All students need to bring their own masks and continue to act responsibly to protect themselves and each other.
Health Check List (attached)
All parents are asked to use the attached health checklist as a guide to whether their child is fit and able to attend school. Please take some additional time each morning to help us keep everyone safe in school.
After-school activities
All after-school activities have been suspended again this week so students should depart on the buses at 3 pm or be collected as soon as possible after 2:50 PM from the gymnasium. We thank you for your cooperation with this and hope we can resume our outstanding program in the near future.
Back to School Night (Years 7,8 and 9)
Our planned Back to School Night this Thursday will now be held remotely on Thursday, 5:15 – 6:15 pm through your child’s Teams account. Tutors and SPLs will distribute further details during the week.
