(CMR) The Daily Mail, a UK publication, claims that Governor Anwar Choudhury (59) was recalled back to the United Kingdom and is being investigated for numerous allegation including “bullied staff, had drunken rows and insisted a maid gave him a shirtless massage.”
Whilst the Foreign and Commonwealth Office has made no official statement since the withdrawal the Daily Mail claims to have inside sources that have solved the mystery as to why he has effectively been suspended. The publication claims that accused of ” misbehaviour towards his wife, Momina, 16 years his junior.”
“He is alleged to have asked a maid to massage his shirtless back, a request she found inappropriate, though there is no suggestion of sexual impropriety.”
It further alleges that he had “a druken row with his elderly mother-in-law one night and shouted at and bullied his staff at the government house. The Daily Mail allegedly contacted him and he has refused to comment on the matter.
The shocking news came two weeks ago that he was being recalled back to the UK pending a full investigation but there were no details provided as to the nature of the allegations.
CMR has been aware for some time now that the allegations were of a more personal nature and did not directly relate to role as governor or with government officials.
In an interesting twist many local supporters have speculated that he was removed because of his popularity among locals.
When he arrived on island many were impressed that he had his family with young child in the forefront and appeared to be very much a family man.
