In a Cayman Marl Road exclusive story we can now confirm that the victim in an incident in Scanton Saturday night was involved in a police chase today that resulted in at least 5 vehicles being damaged.
The incident was reported earlier by CMR minutes after it happened:
Apparently shortly after 3:00 p.m. today, 6 September, police began tailing a man driving a white Mercedes Benz in central town. When he arrived in the vicinity of Shedden Road and Eastern Avenue he noticed the police vehicles and started to drive recklessly in an attempt to evade them. He collided with one vehicle on Sound Way and a second vehicle on North Sound in the vicinity of Shedden Road as we reported earlier this afternoon.
The police then dispatched the helicopter and setup up road blocks in an attempt to apprehend him. Then after 4:00 p.m. in the vicinity of the Pines Nursing Home behind Pasadora Place he was taken into custody by multiple police units. Our exclusive sources provided the video below and stated that 3 officers were needed to physical restrain him in order to make the arrest as he was uncontrollable.
Sources have confirmed that he is the same man reported earlier to have been the victim in an assault by two men who discharged their weapon in the Scranton area. We also understand he arrived on island about a year ago after spending a number of years overseas serving a lengthy sentence for drug related offenses.
CMR sources also indicate that he was armed at the time. A small crowd gathered to watch the final moments of the arrest.
