Further to a previous report on Cayman Marl Road several days ago we can now confirm that a joint tactical operation carried out by several agencies including the Department of Immigration has arrested one of Jamaica's most wanted out of Farm Pen, Savanna-la-Mar, Westmoreland.
The twenty-nine year old, O'Brian Ellis also known as Joe Grind was arrested on Friday, August 18th for illegal landing and possession of ganja with intent to supply. The joint operation carried out by immigration, customs and the police force resulted in the drug must i Windsor Park. Several packages of marijuana were found in numerous locations.
Ellis is wanted for arson and murder of a 44 year old Steadman Sterling, a chef also of Farm Pen, after a dispute in December 2016. Sources indicate that Sterling is actually O'Brian's elder brother. Reports are that on Thursday, December 8, last year, Sterling was shot twice at point blank range following a dispute with his younger brother. The police say the gun attack came after Ellis and his girlfriend had a dispute and Sterling intervened. The chef, who lived next door to his brother, was shot after he returned from the police station where he went to lodge a complaint.
Since then Ellis has not been seen or heard from. In February Jamaican authorities had intensified their efforts to locate him.
CMR exclusive sources indicate that he fled Jamaica after the murder and has been in Cayman since January 2017. Ellis is due to appear in court tomorrow.
