(CMR) 46-year-old Roger Deward Bush has been charged in the November 2019 murder of his own son, 24-year-old Shaquille DeMario Bush days before Father's Day. The accused appeared before Magistrate Hernandez in Courtroom 7 where he was denied bail this morning and remanded into police custody. He faces charges of murder and possession of an unlicensed firearm.
The allegations are that his son was gunned down in the evening hours of Wednesday, November 12, 2019 on Daisy Lane in West Bay. The area is commonly known as Logwood has been the site of several high-profile murders over the years. Yesterday morning police presence was reported in the area to CMR shortly after 6:00 a.m.
Police have since confirmed that just after 5:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 17 they carried out a search at a residence in the West Bay area where they found a quantity of ganja and ganja plants. No arrests were made in relation to the drugs.
However, Bush was re-arrested on suspicion of murder and taken into police custody.
One eyewitness shared that there was the helicopter plus “several dozen police vehicles” including forensics as well as fire rescue.
He had long been suspected of being involved in his son's murder and was almost immediately taken into custody at the time. The day after the murder the father was initially arrested but CMR sources confirmed that the police were not able to hold him as the courts told them at the time that there simply was not enough evidence for an extension to keep him in custody. We understand that they were at the time pursuing a line of inquiry that included possible eyewitnesses or third parties who could assist with the police.
Bush will remain in police custody until the matter is transported to Grand Court where will enter his plea there on June 25. It is listed as a Category A offense.
