(CMR) The owner of Lash Out Limited is suing her former employee, Latoya Bartley, for an unpaid loan for cosmetic surgery “in excess of US$13,000” in June 2021. CMR has previously reported that Bartley was being accused of stealing a large sum of money from the same company.
Kanika Green agreed to loan Bartley the sum in a written loan agreement. Bartley was to repay an initial sum of CI$6,500 at the end of October 2021 followed by monthly instalment payments for the following five months. The agreement contained a term that if she defaulted on the loan she would be responsible for repaying the full amount in 30 business days.
Bartley was terminated on November 25, 2021 and issued a demand for payment of the total sum borrowed. However, she has not been paid back the borrowed money. The plaintiff is suing for the borrowed sum of CI$10,920 plus interest and fixed costs.
