(CMR) The family of a 26 old Newlands man involved in a serious scooter accident Saturday night in Prospect is asking for the public's assistance in locating a driver who absconded from the scene of the accident around 9:15 pm in the vicinity of Di Kit-Chin Restaurant.
Sadly the chain of events was set in motion when a female driver pulled out from Mahogany Way onto the main road in front of the young man with insufficient time to give him full clearance. He was heading east. In order to avoid colliding head-on with her, he made a last-minute maneuver that cause him to collide with a stationary vehicle on the roadside. The driver did not stop to offer any assistance and continued heading towards George Town.
The description of the vehicle in question is gold Honda Stream. Anyone who may have seen the vehicle is asked to contact the RCIPS immediately. Cayman Marl Road understands that the authorities are reviewing CCTV footage in order to assist in locating the driver.
There has been an outpouring of support on social media for the young man who is well known and liked in the local community. He sustained serious injuries to his right leg. Cayman Marl Road sources informed us that he initially had surgery at the HSA and it was advised that he seek additional expert medical attention overseas. However, the staff at Shetty Hospital in East End offered their medical expertise and he was recently transported there for further medical care.
