UPDATED: Tsunami all clear given!
(CMR) A massive 7.7 earthquake hit the Cayman Islands and Jamaica this afternoon.117KM NW of Lucea, Jamaica. Most people said the earthquake last for at least a minute.
There are no injuries reported but there is some damage to property. There is a Tsunami warning in effect for the next half an hour. Beachfront properties are being evacuated.
Unconfirmed reports are that Cuba is being impacted by Tsunami waves already. Massive sinkholes have observed all over the island. Cayman International Schools are closed.
Update: The USGS and upgraded the earthquake off the coast of Cuba as a magnitude 7.7 earthquake.
The Government of Jamaica has issued a TSUNAMI WARNING for the coastal areas of the country. A tsunami warning means that hazardous waves of 3 feet or greater are expected within the next hour. All residents should seek higher ground immediately.
The risk of 1-foot tsunami generated waves are possible along portions of Mexico, Cuba, Cayman Islands, Belize, and Honduras.

Puerto Cortes, Honduras, 3:38 PM ET

Santa Cruz Del Sur, Cuba, 5:16 PM ET
Nueva Gerona, Cuba, 6:45 PM ET.
Interests should monitor their local national weather organization for tsunami warnings.
On Cayman Brac most people headed to the Bluff this afternoon.
Persons with pools are encouraged to turn their pool pumps off and fill it with water.

Hazard Management advises that there is only a very low risk of a tsunami following this afternoon’s earthquake felt across all three Islands.
The possibility of aftershocks remains and members of the public are advised to stay vigilant and stay tuned to official sources of information including the Hazard Management website, FB and Twitter pages.
