(CMR) A Russian man has been charged with four counts of causing death by dangerous driving after four people were killed in a two-vehicle crash along the Palisadoes main road in Kingston, Jamaica, Sunday morning, 11 December.
Alexey Zaystev was charged and offered bail pending his first court appearance on January 18.
The accident, which involved a Toyota Probox motor car, operating as a taxi, and a Toyota Land Cruiser Prado SUV occurred at approximately 6:30 am along the thoroughfare leading to the Norman Manley International Airport.
Two men and two women, who were in a taxi, died as a result of injuries they sustained. All four were residents of Seaview Gardens, Kingston. They are Rose Roberts-Banton (54), Zachery Heslop (18), Delroy Grant (53), and Camille Grant (53). Zaystev and his daughter, who were traveling in the SUV, were treated at hospital.
