(CMR) Francella Martin of the Cayman Islands is the Caribbean top performer in the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants' June 2021 Audit and Assurance exams. A self-study student, Francella uses Kaplan's distance-learning system, which she highly recommends.
Martin said the most significant challenge she faced as a self-study student was balancing her time.
“The biggest challenge for me has been learning how to balance studying with working full time. I try to study consistently during the week so that on the weekends, I have some time to relax. My employer also granted me generous study leave, which made a significant difference,” Martin said.
Martin said she used ACCA study resources to ensure she was prepared for her exams.
“I used ACCA student resources such as the Technical articles and guidance from the examiners, which are a great way to take your exam technique to the next level,” she explained.
Martin, in encouraging others to consider the ACCA, said being consistent is essential.
She advised, “My top tip to students embarking on ACCA is that consistency is key, especially when balancing working and studying at the same time. Aim to finish the syllabus early and leave plenty of time to focus on question practice in the weeks leading up to the exam.”
