(CMR) Whilst most people in the Cayman Islands are tooting the cruise berthing facility as the most expensive infrastructure project in the Cayman Islands; it turns out we have committed to leasing four $80 million jets for Cayman Airways Ltd.
Last week, Cayman Marl Road was made aware of these purchases and ironically the an aeronautics enthusiast has posted a Tweet of one of the airplanes on the assembly line. The distinctive Cayman Airways tail can be seen in the picture.
Many are surprised to see the Tweet.
The Tweet by Woody's Aeroimages states its the first one and shows the plane in “final assembly”. We have no date yet for arrival of this plane.
We understand that the first plane is set to arrive next month and the second in February and they are replacements for the fleets again B737's. The two remaining plans will arrive by 2020.
It's our understanding Boeing would be making these units for Cayman Airways. Ironically Cayman Airways had recently started charging for baggage and stacks for increased revenue. A move which was not popular with the masses. The Boeing 737 MAX is an American narrow-body aircraft series designed and produced by Boeing Commercial Airplanes as the fourth generation of the Boeing 737, succeeding the Boeing 737 Next Generation (NG). The Boeing 737 MAX family brings the latest technology to the most popular jet aircraft of all time, the 737. The 737 MAX is designed to provide passengers with a comfortable flying experience and more direct routes to their favorite destinations.
Should we find out any more information this post will be updated according.
