(CMR) Approximately 20 million people will be vaccinated for the COVID-19 virus in a matter of days, as the first shipment of the Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine arrived in the UK on Thursday (December 3).
According to the BBC, the vaccines have been taken to an undisclosed location, and will now be distributed to hospitals around the UK.
The Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation (JCVI) has decided health care workers and the elderly will be among the first to get the jab.
Just a day earlier, the UK became the first country in the world to approve the Pfizer vaccine.
A top US infectious disease expert,Dr Anthony Fauci, in a Fox News interview criticise the UK's vaccine approval process.
“The UK did not do it as carefully. If you go quickly and you do it superficially, people are not going to want to get vaccinated,” Fauci told Fox News.
Fauci later apologized for the comments.
The Pfizer/BioNTech vaccines were manufactured in Belgium.
