(CMR) Three Caymanian women have been called to the bar during the COVID crisis after completing their legal studies and articles of clerkship with Maples and are now attorneys-at-law in the Cayman Islands.
The Honourable Justice Robin McMillan admitted Lucy Day and Hailee Robinson in June and July. Juliana Wood was admitted by The Honourable Justice Ramsay-Hale in mid-July. Their admissions were moved by the firm's Dispute Resolution & Insolvency Partners Colin McKie QC, Caroline Moran, and James Eldridge.
Day will be joining the firm's Funds & Investment Management practice as an Associate. She graduated with a First Class Honours Degree in Marketing and Management from Newcastle University and is also a graduate at the University of Law, Bristol Campus where she completed a Graduate Diploma in Law and the Legal Practice Course, both awarded with distinction. She completed her postgraduate legal studies as a Maples scholarship recipient. During that time she worked as a summer legal and marketing intern. She is a member of the Cayman Islands Legal Practitioners Association (CILPA) and 100 Women in Finance (100WF) NextGen.
Robinson will be with the Finance practice area of the firm as an Associate as well. She eventually obtained a scholarship and Robinson initially worked as a summer intern before attending the University of Bristol where she graduated with a Masters of Law and completed her Legal Practice Course at the University of Law, Bristol Campus. She is a member of CILPA, 100WF, 100WF NextGen as well as the Deputy Chairperson and legal committee member of the Alex Panton Foundation.
Wood, a University of Kent graduate, will be in the Funds & Investment Management practice as an Associate after having obtained her Law and Accounting & Finance degrees. She attended BBP University where she has a Postgraduate Diploma in Legal Practice. Wood completed her summer internships between the Cayman and London offices and is a member of CILPA, the 100WF NextGen committee, and the 100WF GirlForce 100 committee.
Due to physical distancing guidelines the Court permitted the admissions to be streamed remotely so that family, friends, and colleagues could join the occasion.
