(CMR) The Anti-Corruption Commission has issued a statement about today's sentencing of persons involved in Cayman's biggest fraud case involving multiple immigration officers. They shared the details of the sentencing and deportation order handed down today by Justice Roger Chapple in the Grand Court:
TRIAL ONE
- Marcus Alexander
- 4 years imprisonment for conspiracy to commit fraud on the government
- 4 months imprisonment (concurrent) for failing to report
- Kathy-Ann Forbes
- 2 years imprisonment for conspiracy to commit fraud on the government
- 4 months imprisonment (concurrent) for failing to report, suspended for 2 years
- Carlos Robinson
- 3 years imprisonment for conspiracy to commit fraud on the government
- 4 months imprisonment (concurrent) for failing to report
- Pheadra McDonald
- conditional discharge for period of two years for failing to report
- Santo Castro Castillo
- 3 years imprisonment for conspiracy to commit fraud on the government
- deportation once sentence served
- Mariel Maleno Suriel
- conditional discharge for period of two years for conspiracy to commit fraud on the government
TRIAL TWO
- Diane Dey-Rankine
- 12 months imprisonment for conspiracy to commit fraud on the government
- 4 months imprisonment (concurrent) for failing to report, suspended for two years
- Carolin Nixon Lopez
- 12 months imprisonment for conspiracy to commit fraud on the government, suspended for two years
- Angela Suyapa Rodriguez David
- 6 months imprisonment for conspiracy to commit fraud on the government, suspended for two years
ADDITIONAL ORDER
- Compensation Order in favour of Elsy Reyes Diaz in the sum of CI$1,000 to be paid by Diane Dey-Rankine and Carolin Nixon Lopez ($500 each).
“These sentences send a clear message that corruption at all levels will be investigated and persons prosecuted to the fullest extent of the Law” said Chairman Richard Coles. “The Commission would like to thank Investigator Anthony Daniels as well as other members of the Commission staff along with the RCIPS and Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions for their work in this matter” he added.
