(CMR) Chief Medical Officer Dr. John Lee on Tuesday (May 5) said that the Cayman Islands had confirmed three new coronavirus cases, bringing the island's total to 78.
Lee said that the three positive cases, which all came from Grand Cayman, come as the country continues to increase its testing capacity.
According to Lee, of the new cases, one case is a result of a known contact while the other two cases resulted from the newly introduced screening programme.
“There are a total of 224 reports today of which, as I have said, three were positive. 48 people who were tested, were tested through the Doctor’s Hospital,” said Lee.
Lee further revealed that while there were 78 confirmed cases only eight individuals were symptomatic while 35 people were asymptomatic.
