(CMR) Lovell Marriott has again filed a lawsuit against the Commissioner of Police; this time, she is claiming $20,000 for damage to property, loss of valuable items, and refusal of access to her vehicle.
According to the court document, Marriott has been unable to access her car since 7 December 2023 because of police negligence.
Marriott said the police negligence has caused neighbors to harass her with violence, causing misery and disruption of the peace. She claims she lost access to her car after her neighbor blocked it with a truck and that the police failed to remove the truck.
According to the lawsuit, Mariott called 911 10 times regarding having the truck removed. She also visited the George Town police station and was promised the police would ask her neighbor to remove the truck. However, the truck remains parked inches away from her car, preventing her from opening her car door.
Marriott, who claims she has to walk miles daily and begs for rides to avoid the sun, said she wrote several times to the Governor, Deputy Governor, and the Commissioner of Police about the issue.
Marriott is also requesting a protection order against her neighbors, Keith Barnes and his wife, with whom she claims she has a long-standing dispute. According to the court document, Marriott has filed over 25 reports against Keith Barnes and his wife, Marlene Barnes, who constantly harass her and claim she is crazy, so they can do anything to her and get away with it.
She claims her neighbors need to see a psychiatrist as “they cuss and throw slurs at her every day like it's their second job.”
She is also seeking an injunction against Keith Barnes for using his generator in front of his apartment, with the noise and fumes affecting her.
