UPDATE: The three men who were arrested on Tuesday, 26 March, following the recovery of a quantity of ganja and cash, have been formally charged with Possession of Ganja with Intent to Supply. The 57-year-old has also been charged with Possession of Criminal Property in relation to the cash that was seized.
The men appeared in court today, 2 April, and have been granted bail pending a further court appearance.
(CMR) Three men were arrested after police seized 450 pounds of ganja along with a large amount of cash during an operation in the vicinity of Seymour Drive in George Town on Tuesday, 26 March.
Reports from the RCIPS are that officers were conducting inquiries in the vicinity of Seymour Drive and detected the strong scent of ganja from an address in the area where several individual apartments are located.
Officers searched the area and observed a man attempting to discard an item. The man was detained, and the item, a bag containing suspected ganja, was recovered.
The officers then conducted a search of his apartment under the Misuse of Drugs Act and recovered several other packages containing ganja. The officers also recovered over $5,000CI and over $800USD in cash from his person. The man, age 57 of George Town, was arrested on suspicion of possession of ganja, possession of ganja with intent to supply, and possession of criminal property.
Officers conducted a further search to the rear of the man’s apartment and recovered additional packages containing ganja. Two other men at the location, ages 28 and 29 of Bodden Town, were arrested on suspicion of possession of ganja and possession of ganja with intent to supply. All three men remain in custody as investigations continue.
