(CMR) In honor of Heart Month, the Cayman Heart Foundation (CHF) is inviting the public to a free health fair and heart health screening event at the Savannah Seventh-Day Adventist Church on Sunday, 25 February 2024, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
This event provides an excellent opportunity for people to take proactive steps toward understanding and managing their heart health.
Those who attend can also participate in wellness booths, such as plant therapy, healthy cooking demonstrations, and massage therapy. During the event, those over 16 will undergo assessments for weight and BMI, blood pressure, cholesterol, and glucose levels and consultations with healthcare professionals.
“Prevention and early detection are crucial in the fight against heart disease,” said Dr. Sara Watkin, who serves as a director on the Cayman Heart Foundation board.
“Through these free heart health screenings, we aim to empower individuals with the knowledge and resources they need to make informed decisions about their cardiovascular health,” Dr. Watkin added.
Heart disease remains a leading cause of mortality globally, and the Cayman Heart Foundation said it is committed to raising awareness and promoting preventive measures to combat this prevalent health issue.
For those unable to attend this event, the public can receive free heart health screenings at the CHF community center located at 10 Pasadora Place, Smith Road, in George Town. Appointments for screenings can be requested by emailing [email protected] or calling 746-1490.
