(CMR) Port Authority Cayman Islands has implemented several fee increases, some doubling the previous fees, effective 1 January 2024, following the approval of amendments to Port Regulations by Cabinet on 20 December 2023.
The Government has not officially announced these increases, but based on the Port (Amendment) Regulations 2023, which was gazetted on 21 December, there are price increases in several areas, including the importation of vehicles.
Under the amended regulations, cargo dues for imported vehicles will be calculated at the flat rates of $300 for a vehicle weighing less than six tons and $500 for a vehicle weighing six tons or more.
The charge for trucking cargo from the ship side to the distribution center at the Industrial Park is $60 for a container 20 feet long or less; $120 for a container more than 20 feet long but not more than 40 feet long, and $135 for a container more than 40 feet long.
Amendments have also been made to storage costs with a charge of $5.25 for cargo other than vehicles, for each day or fraction of each day, per ton or part ton. A charge of $25 has been implemented for vehicles for each day or fraction of each day.
