(CMR) A man reportedly turned up at the Cayman Islands Hospital with a gunshot wound to the leg after police responded to a report of shots being fired in Geroge Town shortly after midnight today, 20 December.
Reports from the RCIPS are that at about 12:10 a.m., officers from the Firearms Response Unit were dispatched by the 9-1-1 Communications Centre to a report that shots had been fired in the vicinity of Grescott Lane in George Town.
Shortly afterward, a report was received that a man had attended the Cayman Islands Hospital with a gunshot wound to the leg. He remains in hospital being treated for the injury, which appears to be non-life-threatening.
Officers attended the location of the report and recovered spent shell casings. The matter is currently under investigation by George Town CID, and anyone with information is asked to contact 949-4222.
