(CMR) A George Town man (20) who assaulted a woman in Grand Habour Sunday night, 29 October, was arrested in relation to the incident and further arrested for drugs found in his possession.
The RCIPS said just after 9:10 p.m., police were dispatched to a report of a disturbance taking place in Grand Harbour, George Town.
Officers attended the report and spoke with the parties involved. It appeared that an altercation had taken place between a man and woman known to each other, which resulted in the woman being assaulted. The officers, while speaking with the parties involved, had cause to believe that the man may have been in possession of illicit substances, and this prompted the officers to conduct a search of a vehicle at the location.
The man, age 20, of was George Town, was subsequently arrested on suspicion of assault ABH and consumption of ganja. Following his arrest, a search was conducted at his residence under the Misuse of Drugs Act, where a quantity of ganja was found and taken as evidence.
The man was further arrested on suspicion of possession of ganja. He remains in custody pending further investigations.
He was the second man to be arrested over the weekend for assaulting a female.
