(CMR) Last week, John Gray High School celebrated the graduation of 196 accomplished students in a ceremony held in its gymnasium under the theme, ‘It's the Climb'.
Principal Jon Clark paid tribute to the graduates, commending their exceptional achievements and distinctive qualities.
“Among this year's graduands, we have sports stars who have represented the Cayman Islands internationally, athletes, musicians who have performed with acclaimed musicians and actors, scientists, children who have already excelled in leadership opportunities, and those who are studying overseas, and representing the Cayman Islands on the world stage, already climbing high towards success and we are all proud of you,” he stated.
He continued, “You have most definitely left John Gray in a far better way than you found it. We are now a good school and a long way in the journey towards excellence, but at John Gray, better never stops.”
Eighty-three graduates were bestowed with Level 2 honors certificates, having attained a minimum of seven subjects, including math and English at Level 2.
Another 21 graduates attained Level 2 diplomas with high honors, having passed at least nine subjects at Level 2, obtaining math and English at either a grade 1 or 2, or A*, A or B. Notably, 14 high-honors graduates were awarded the prestigious Super Cup Award for attaining ten or more subjects.
Renowned local entrepreneur and former Director of Sports Collin Anglin served as the guest speaker for the evening, delivering an impassioned speech centered around the “Five Ps to Make the Climb,” encompassing purpose, plan, people, possibilities, and persistence.
His words resonated deeply with the graduating class, offering invaluable insights and motivation as they prepare for their future journeys.
