(CMR) Four bills were passed in the House of Parliament on Wednesday, 20 September, after going through the committee and reporting stages as well as the third readings.
The Bills passed were the Public Lands (Amendment and Validation) Bill, 2023; the Plant Protection Bill, 2023; Terminal Charges (Validation) Bill, 2023; and the Proceeds of Crime (Amendment) Bill, 2023.
The day’s proceedings also included the tabling of the following Annual Reports by their respective Ministers.

Land returned to the rightful owner
Deputy Premier and Minister of District Administration and Lands, Hon. Juliana O’Connor-Connolly, reported on the vesting of Crown Land Block 25B Parcel 430 to Miguel Apolonio Ramos. Minister O’Connor-Connolly explained that the disposition returned an undeveloped area of 0.23 acres in Prospect, Grand Cayman to the rightful owner, Mr. Ramos.
Ministers Hon. Kenneth Bryan and Hon. Jay Ebanks provided updates on several matters concerning their Ministries. The Attorney General, Hon. Samuel Bulgin made a statement regarding two exceptional circumstances originating in the office of the Director of Public Prosecutions that were approved by Cabinet.
Motion accepted for rezoning in George Town East
Government Motion 1 of 2023-2024: Amendment to the Development Plan 1997. Proposed Rezoning: George Town East, Block 20D Parcels 447 (now 468 and 469), 448 and 451 from low-density residential to neighborhood commercial was accepted unanimously.
