UPDATE: The Department of Vehicle and Drivers' Licensing (DVDL) wishes to advise the public that its Breakers location will reopen for business tomorrow, Wednesday, 6 September. DVDL would like to thank the public for their understanding during the closure.
(CMR) The Department of Vehicle and Drivers' Licensing (DVDL) has advised the public that its Beakers office is closed until further notice due to unforeseen circumstances.
The DVDL has not stated the reason for the closure; however, CMR sources revealed that the closure resulted from electrical issues exposed by recent thunderstorms. The meter center has to be changed out, a source said.
There are reports that the facility is experiencing corrosion of some of its equipment due to the building's proximity to the sea. The building, which the DVDL rents, is owned by businessman Tony Powell, who also owns South Coast Bar, located nearby.
The public is invited to visit the DVDL's Crewe Road and West Bay locations.
The Department of Vehicle and Drivers' Licensing apologizes for any inconvenience this may cause.
Customers are reminded that they can renew their vehicle and driver’s licenses online via DVDL’s website at www.dvdl.gov.ky. They can also choose to have them delivered by mail.
