(CMR) An 80-year-old woman who was visiting the Cayman Islands from the US died last Thursday after experiencing difficulties while swimming.
Reports from the RCIPS are that just after 10 am on Thursday, 13 July, the 9-1-1 Communications Centre dispatched officers to a report of a person in distress on the shore in the vicinity of Boggy Sands Road, West Bay. It was reported that a woman had been swimming offshore when she experienced difficulties and lost consciousness.
She was assisted to the shore by family members who administered CPR until the arrival of Emergency Medical Services. The woman was then transported to the Cayman Islands Hospital via ambulance and was later pronounced dead.
